The cooling system project at Shahid MofattehPower Plant in Hamedan was launched to use the capacities available in the country to meet the macro-level objectives in optimized consumption of Iranian water resources. As much as 85% of regional groundwater resources, equivalent to annual water use of a city hosting 70,137 people, can be saved by implementing the modification plan for the main and auxiliary cooling systems at the second unit of the power plant and by replacing the existing system with a combination of dry and wet cooling systems, clearly leading to considerable contribution to sustainable regional groundwater resources and prevention of gradual soil bed erosion and increase in water consumption for farming Advantages of heller cooling systems include reduced costs and improved efficiency using natural air flow with no need for water pumps, leading to lower expenses compared to someother types of dry cooling towers. In addition, since no pump is embedded within such systems, these towers feature a very high level of efficiency.
Other advantages include: Lower levels of noise and environmental pollution: A dry cooling system reduces noise and air and water pollution Frost resistance: Due to using dry systems, heller cooling towers exhibit very high levels of resistance against frost in winter. It is important to note that the project site is located in the 4- unit 1440-MW steam power plant at Mofatteh Power Plant in Hamedan, western Iran, 45 km to the city of Hamedan The client of the project is Thermal Power Generation Holding Co. joined by Ghods Niroo Co as the project consultant
