The second gas unit of the Sabzevar Block Power Plant was successfully synchronized with the national electricity grid at 20:16 on Sunday, September 20, 2026. With this milestone, the entire 366 MW capacity of the plant’s gas section is now available to the national power grid
This achievement contributes to increasing power generation capacity, strengthening the stability of the national grid, and meeting the growing demand for electricity in northeastern Iran.
The Sabzevar Block Power Plant comprises two MAP2B gas turbine units, each with a capacity of 183 MW, one three-pressure steam turbine unit with a capacity of 180 MW, and a 400-kV substation. With the synchronization of the second gas unit, the total capacity of the plant’s gas section reached 366 MW, marking another important step toward completion of the project and increasing the region’s power generation capacity. With the commissioning of this unit, the number of power generation units synchronized by MAPNA MD1 has reached 170, with the total capacity of synchronized units reaching 23,278 MW.
Based on estimates and assuming an average monthly electricity consumption of 300 kWh per standard household, the unit’s generation capacity under low-load conditions could supply the electricity needs of more than 395,000 households.
The Sabzevar Block Power Plant has been constructed on a 42-hectare site at Kilometer 23 of the Sabzevar–Shahroud Road, on the outskirts of Sabzevar.
Ofogh Tose’e Energy Khalij Fars Company serves as the project owner and investor, while Moshanir is the project consultant.
