Built with the aim of increasing the country’s power generation capacity and enhancing the stability of the national grid, the plant is equipped with a 42-MW MGT40 gas turbine from MAPNA Group. The unit had previously been synchronized with the national electricity grid on May 25, 2026.
The operation of this project will contribute to managing peak electricity demand during the hot seasons, while also playing an important role in reducing potential power outages and improving the reliability of energy supply for industrial and mining sectors.
The project is located within the Shahr-e Babak Copper Complex. National Iranian Copper Industries Company is the project owner, while Niroo Consulting Engineers is serving as the project consultant.
